It enhances the mobility of humanoid robots and also contributes to good understanding of motor control of human. Gymnastic motion is included in such interesting motion tasks.

In the study, they focus on nonlinear feedback and feedforward controller for gymnastic robots, which have articulated multi-link structure and highly nonlinear dynamics.

The gymnastic robot can perform jumping, somersault, and back handspring. Back handspring is one of the difficult motion task that has never performed by real machines (and human too).
